Court Slaps Tight Limits on Sizemore
The Oregonian: Bill Sizemore, Oregon's most prolific ballot initiative author, can no longer help run or be paid by any nonprofit organization without first convincing a judge that the financial arrangement is legitimate, a Multnomah County judge ruled Friday. The strict limits on how Sizemore can operate are designed to end his yearslong pattern of creating and operating sham nonprofits to disguise the sources of his political donations, to get unfair tax benefits for his political battles and to enrich himself, Multnomah County Circuit Judge Janice Wilson said. The new limits on Sizemore's activities last until November 2013. Among them: He can't establish or work for any educational charities; he must get court approval to be involved with any political nonprofit, including showing he doesn't control the finances and showing how much he will be paid; and any money or other benefit he gets from any nonprofit must be reported to the court and to the unions that oppose him within 30 days, along with an explanation of why he deserved the money.
